Postpartum Massage & Belly Binding

Be revitalised!

Childbirth is a significant life transition for every mum, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Whilst your body heals and recovers from pregnancy and childbirth, it also feeds your newborn. In addition to this, you also go through an emotional roller coaster whilst you figure out how to best care for your baby, manage the household and be a good partner and mother all at the same time.

Ingeborg Stadelmann, a midwife and author, says that “a woman postpartum not only needs a bed and food…[but] especially love, time devoted to her, affection, and care”.

It is not only okay for a new mum to rest, take time for herself and care for her well-being, it is essential because a mum who is well cared for can better care for her baby and family!

The gentle touch of a massage and other types of postpartum bodywork can settle you physically, emotionally and mentally, which will support your transition into motherhood more effectively.

It is therefore very important to be revitalised regularly postpartum to bring out the best mum in you!

My postpartum bodywork package supports your physical recovery from birth, your breastfeeding journey and your bonding with your child by creating time for rest and self-care through massage. A once-a-week massage over six weeks will support you best in your postpartum journey.

What Mums Are Saying

“I am so grateful to have met Damaris. Her postpartum massage really eased my trouble spots after having a cesarean birth. She gave me some belly bands after. She even taught me some pelvic floor exercises I could do on my own to improve my pelvic floor muscles. I would highly recommend her to anyone. ”

— Rachel, Kogarah

“Damaris is so friendly and approachable from the start and I enjoyed my first ever postpartum massage at home! I would recommend her services which would make such a good gift for new mums too :) ”

— Carmen, Bexley

“I had two beautiful postpartum massages with Damaris from the comfort of my own home. The massages were exactly what I needed after just having my little bub. I felt so relaxed & calm afterward. Damaris has a lovely, calm & gentle energy about her. Highly recommended xx”

Postpartum Belly Massage

The uterus and belly of the mum grow during pregnancy and need time to heal and recover after birth. It is not uncommon for newborn mums to feel “empty” once their baby leaves them after nine months.

Regular belly massage after birth helps the uterus to recover back to its usual size, promotes breastfeeding and can also help a newborn mum cope emotionally whilst learning to accept her postpartum belly.

I use a mixture of essential oils specially created for postnatal belly massages, which nourishes and strengthens the connective tissues of the skin and supports the recovery process of the mum’s belly and uterus.

Belly Binding

Full Body Massage

The transition from being pregnant to being a newborn mum can be taxing on the mum physically and emotionally and many of the emotional and physical changes can be relieved by a full body postnatal massage.

Pain relief, hormone regulation, improved milk production, stress relief, and better sleep are some of the benefits of a postpartum full body massage. You can read more about the benefits here.

Essential oils will be used to support your tailored postpartum massage plan.

When the abdomen grows and stretches during pregnancy to accommodate the baby, the mum’s organs move out of position and abdominal muscles separate to make space. After giving birth, the body needs to move the organs and muscles back in place.

Belly binding or belly wrapping offers extra support around the abdomen as your body heals. It provides a gentle compression that holds the muscles and ligaments in place and helps your organs come back to their original position. It is a great addition to any postpartum abdominal massage.

“After birth there’s a sacred window of time.

A time for complete rejuvenation of a woman’s physical, mental and spiritual health. A time for deep, extended bonding with her newborn.

The first 42 days after birth set the stage for her next 42 years.
